Fr Molloy report due “shortly”

The Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald says she hopes to publish shortly a report examining the Garda cold case files on the death of Fr. Niall Molloy in Co. Offaly.

It follows reports in the Sunday Times that the review carried out by senior counsel Dominic McGinn has found no evidence to back up allegations of a Garda cover-up.

The independent examination, announced late last year by Alan Shatter, was set up to identify matters of concern that may warrant a further inquiry.

Roscommon priest Fr. Molloy was found beaten to death in Kilcoursey House, Clara in 1985 and nobody has been convicted of his killing.
