A meeting of the Co. Roscommon Historical and Archaeological Society will take place at 8.00 p.m. on Tuesday, 12th June, 2018, in the Percy French Hotel, Strokestown.
Following the meeting, at 8.30 p.m. (sharp), there will be an illustrated lecture by Muireann Ní Cheallacháin, co-director of the project funded by the NRA on the archaeological excavations of a ringfort recently completed at Ranelagh, near Roscommon Town.
The lecture is entitled ‘Preliminary observations on the early medieval multi-phase settlement and burial ground at Ranelagh, Co. Roscommon’.
Excavation findings and initial observations on the burial and artefact assemblage will be discussed by Muireann.
