‘Intense’ rainfall warning issued for Tuesday

Met Eireann has upgraded it’s Status Yellow rainfall warning to a Staus Orange to include Roscommon for this Tuesday.

The warning is valid from 21.00 Monday night to 17.00 on Tuesday 25th.

Intense rainfall associated with Storm Francis is expected at times Monday night and Tuesday, leading to accumulations of 40 to 60mm (higher values in mountainous areas). The most intense rainfall is expected to ease off in southern counties during Tuesday morning. Some flash flooding likely.

This rainfall will further elevate river levels and may result in river flooding also

Met Eireann say the weather on Tuesday over Connacht will be ‘very wet and windy with some torrential downpours and the continued risk of flooding. Cyclonic variable winds will veer west to northwest, increasing fresh to strong, and reaching gale force along parts of the coast. Some mild sunny spells possible too; highest temperatures of 17 to 19 degrees Celsius’.
