Roscommon born priest to retire

A Roscommon native who is one of the longest-serving parish priests in the Diocese of Elphin is to retire.

Fr Dominick Gillooly, parish priest of St Anne’s in Sligo, is to step down from his position.

It is understood he will remain in the parish and will continue to minister as a curate.

Fr Gillooly who was an accomplished footballer in his heyday, has been parish priest in St Anne’s for more than 30 years.
