Roscommon see off Sligo IT in Boyle

A large crowd were present in the Abbey Park in Boyle on Sunday to see Roscommon senior GAA team commence their 2017 competitive campaign with a comprehensive victory over Sligo IT.

Roscommon saw off their near neighbours in this FBD League opener on a scoreline of 6-21 to 0-14.

The half time score for Kevin McStay’s men was 2-16 to 0-3 with new man Andrew Glennon scoring the first goal of his 3-1 tally.

Boyle club man Donie Smith was also on the score sheet with 0-4 to his name.

After the match manager McStay said he was disappointed that the challenge wasn’t what it should be and the game was really over at half time

The new look team will now meet NUI Galway in Ballyforan next Sunday.
