Run, Walk n Roll raises an amazing €4,710 this year

2020 marked the 25th year of Run Walk n Roll, previously known as the Terry Fox Run in Boyle. It’s a 5k run/walk in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. Due to the covid-19 restrictions, Run Walk n Roll went virtual for the first time in October 2020. This years event was #5kyourway. Participants were asked to do their 5k whatever way they wanted, upload their photos to social media and make their donation. The event took place for 25 days to celebrate the 25th year, from the 6th-31st October 2020. During this time, people completed 5k from all over. There were participants from the local and wider communities showing off the beautiful views they encountered in Lough Key Forest Park and Cavetown Lake in Boyle. #5kyourway was brought to Belfast, Dublin, Galway and even as far Perth in Australia!

St. Joseph’s Boys NS completed their 5k in their school yard and raised €385. Pearl and Rory Anderson been supporters of Run Walk n Roll and Pearl completed her 24th 5k this year and raised €520 for #5kyourway 2020. Arlene, Michaela and Therese Regan completed the Vhi Virtual Women’s Mini Marathon 2020 in October in aid of Run Walk n Roll. They raised a total of €705. There was also a generous donation of €100 from VistaMed, Carrick-on-Shannon. Altogether, Run Walk n Roll raised an amazing €4,710.40

Damian, Pauline, Arlene, Michaela and Therese Regan would like to thank everyone for their support this year. Without everyone’s participation and both online and offline donations and donations from local businesses in Boyle, the 25th year of run walk n roll would not have happened! Covid-19 may have put the country in lockdown but it didn’t stop our fight against cancer. Cancer doesn’t stop and neither will we. Again, we thank each and every one of you that supported us this year in any way and we hopefully will be back on track in 2021
