Suspicious death in Sligo

Gardaí have preserved a scene in Sligo following the discovery of a man’s body at an apartment in the town this afternoon.

They are treating the find as “suspicious”.

The man in his 50s, was found with stab wounds when gardaí called to the apartment in Holborn Street at around 1pm today.

It is understood the man was a local man who lived alone.

His body was removed to Sligo Regional Hospital where a port mortem examination will be carried out tomorrow.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information to contact the incident room at Sligo Garda Station on 071-9157000.
