Boyle could see increased bus service

There is speculation that the Local Link bus service may be extended in the Boyle area over the festive season.

It was recently confirmed by Local Link manager for Roscommon Leitrim and Sligo Camilla Kelly that she has been asked by Government to look at all high frequency services in the area under a new pilot programme.

The proposed one year pilot will cost €1m and will mainly cover additional evening and late night services over Christmas in a bid to tackle the issue of rural isolation.

Ms Kelly has said the Boyle to Roscommon and Ballyfarnon to Boyle routes are among those which she has been asked to look at.

It is understood the proposed extended service will be on existing routes while it is being piloted.
