All three of our adult teams were in action at the weekend.

Our Downes Construction sponsored women’s team maintained their unbeaten start to the RDFL Women’s Division following a one-all draw with Ballaghaderreen on Saturday evening. The two goals were scored in the first half. Ballagh opened the scoring with a deft finish after a ball was played in behind the Celtic defence. Their lead only lasted ten minutes, however. Annie O’Connor sent in a whipped corner delivery which was met by Sheridan Takahara who diverted the ball to the net. The remainder of the game was a highly entertaining battle with both sides sure to feel they had chances to win it but ultimately sharing a point apiece. Team: S. O’Donohoe; A. O’Donohoe, S. Takahara, E. Barnes, C. Byrne; E. Callaghan, E. Duggan, A. O’Connor; E. Collins, A. Hogan, S. Lee. With: P. Brehony, L. Prior, A. Cooke, A. O’Dowd, B. Kilroy and G. Stenson.

Our Roberto’s/ Greenrock sponsored men’s reserves secured their first win of the season with a 3-0 triumph over St. Cuan’s United on Sunday morning. Celtic took the lead on 41 minutes as Isaak Said finished a Daniel Hughes cross. The lead was doubled shortly before half-time as D. Abdullrazzaq got his first goal for the club, latching on to a Said assist. Patrick Whitton’s charges held firm in the second half, preventing the opposition from chipping at their lead. That was rewarded in injury time as Sean Duarte rounded off the scoring following a Said pass. Team: S. Conlon, S. Higgins, B. Kilroy, L. Casey, D. Abdullrazzaq, C. Morris, D. Hughes, A. Said, S. Duate, R. Shanley. Subs used: J. Burke Tighe.

Our Wynne’s Bar sponsored men’s first team extended their 100% record in the RDFL Premier Division with an injury time win away to Ballymoe on Sunday afternoon. In a what was a tense and frought contest throughout, both sides had goals ruled out. Celtic’s came from a free-kick with Mick Corrigan evading his man and slotting home. However, a foul was adjudged to have been committed by a Boyle Celtic player in the penalty area. Similarly, Ballymoe were found guilty of a misdemeanor early in the second half with the ball in the Celtic net, much to the relief of Lochlainnn Conboy’s side. Celtic continued to search for an opener, the best of which was a stinging effort from Mikey James that fired past the post. Eventually, the deadlock was broken as the game entered stoppage time. A switch of play saw Celtic awarded a free-kick wide on the left-hand side. Jake McCrann sent in a trademark right-footed delivery which Ballymoe failed to deal with it. The ball fell to Dessie Carlos who made them pay queuing ecstatic celebrations on the pitch, in the dugout and amongst the supporters. Celtic held firm to pick up three points, four wins and clean sheets in a row to start the RDFL Premier Division season. Team: C. Cooke; D. Carlos, J. McCrann, S. Purcell, G. O’Connor; M. James, D. Carroll, S. Carroll; C. Calpin, M. Corrigan, C. Maher. With: A. Calpin, M. Bourke, K. Sweeney, R. Harrison.
