Results

Our Downes Construction sponsored women’s team returned to winning ways with a comprehensive victory over Roscommon United at Celtic Park on Saturday evening. Four quickfire first half goals proved vital in deciding the outcome. Bláthnaid Kilroy continued her goalscoring form, finding the back of the net after 24 and 26 minutes. That was quickly followed by an Aisling Cooke finish before Kilroy netted her hat-trick and seventh league goal of the season shortly after the half hour mark. Emer Callaghan topped off another quality performance with a goal of her own on 74 minutes. Roscommon United did reply with a consolation eleven minutes from time before Andrea Hogan got her name on the scoresheet as time approached full-time. Team: A. O’Dowd; A. O’Donohoe, S. Takahara, E. Collins, C. Byrne; E. Duggan, E. Callaghan, A. Cooke; B. Kilroy, S. O’Donohoe, E. Mullen. Subs used: A. Hogan, E. Barnes, L. Prior, G. Stenson. With: P. Brehony.

Our Roberto’s sponsored men’s reserves picked up a second win a row with a 3-2 win over Carrick Town at a sun-kissed Celtic Park on Sunday morning. Celtic took the lead shortly after the hour mark through Liam Casey. The home side doubled their advantage moments later via a strike from Conor Calpin. Two became three on 79 minutes as Colm Morris’ effort looped into the net. Carrick, to their credit, did not give up. An acrobatic effort from the away team’s number nine pulled one back before the same player ensured a nervy finish scoring his and his side’s second as the game entered injury time. Celtic held on to make sure of the three points.
