END THE WINTER HIBNERATION

As part of the Health & Wellbeing programme Boyle GAA are running a couch to 5K twice a week for the next 8 weeks, starting on Monday 16th April.  This programme is aimed at complete beginners and anyone who needs to get back into fitness. It is a very gradual build-up of running over the weeks.  Initially it will be 25mins on Mondays and Thursdays. Meet at the GAA Clubhouse at 7pm on the 16th April. Spread the word “Lets Get Active”

GDPR SEMINAR

The objective of this Seminar is to provide an overview of the enhanced privacy rights being given to individuals and what you must do in your business to comply with the new rules.  This will take place on Wednesday 18th April at 10am until 12 noon in the Spool Factory and  is a free event. Pre registration with the local Enterprise Office is required.

BOYLE MUSICAL SOCIETY AGM

Following on from the success of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ last year, the Committee and Production team of Boyle Musical Society are currently considering a number of shows for this year’s production. 2018 will see the Society present their 35th annual musical and plans are being put in place to make it something very special indeed. All will be revealed at the Boyle Musical Society AGM, which will take place at 8:30pm on Thursday April 19th in An Craoibhín. All past and present members are invited to attend along with anybody interested in joining the Society.

MEDIUMSHIP DEMO IN BOYLE

You are invited to a public demonstration of mediumship in Boyle on Friday April 20th with Spaewytch. Join a gathering of like-minded people to share in connection with the spirit world. Spaewytch will endeavour to bring you contact from those we have lost from our lives. Each connection will be approximately 5-10 minutes long. Please be advised that not everyone in the audience is guaranteed a connection. There will be a raffle on the night: 1st prize is a reading with Spaewytch. 2nd prize is a set of Oracle Quest cards by John King and third prize is a Meditation CD by John King. FAMILY PICNIC DAY IN FOREST PARK

Bishop Kevin Doran is inviting families across the 37 parishes of the Diocese of Elphin to a family picnic fun day in Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle on Sunday 22nd April 2018. The celebration is part of diocesan preparations for the World Meeting of Families which will take place in August 2018. Speaking at the event launch at the Forest Park on Saturday, Bishop Kevin said, “this is a celebration of family in an atmosphere of fun, sharing and friendship. Families of other religious traditions and of none are our neighbours and friends and I want them to feel most welcome on this family day.  The day will begin at 1pm and continue until 6pm with an official opening at 2.30pm. There will be face painting, dance workshops and outdoor games to play. Musicians, singers and choirs will share their gifts and create a family atmosphere. Families may choose to do some of the walks around the park and gain some insight into the history of Lough Key Forest Park. An opportunity will also be available to explore the beauty of creation and consider how we can care for our common home. Families can discover the Family Cube, a resource to help families on their journey of faith and love. Admission to the event is free, with free parking.  Families are encouraged to bring their own picnic or avail of Lough Key’s on-site catering. BBQ’s are permitted. Families are also invited to bring a bit of extra food for a sharing table. A programme of events for the day will be available shortly.

HEALTHY IRELAND AT BOYLE LIBRARY

Positive steps to mind your Mental Health Positive, steps to nurturing your personal health and self-care strategies to reduce stress with Teresa Keane. KING HOUSE TO HOST VÓTÁIL 100

“Vótáil 100 – Votes for Women” Will be held in King House this April. Boyle has been chosen to host the event due to its connection with Margaret Cousins, she was an  educationist, suffragist and theosophist who established the All India Women’s Conference. Margaret was born on 7th November 1878 and lived on the Crescent in Boyle, There will be  a wide panel of speakers including Senator Ivana Bacik, Mary McAuliffe (UCD), Claire McGing (Maynooth University) and Sandra Collins (Director National Library of Ireland). Maire Egan Paul and Keith Monro will talk about ‘Margaret Cousins and the Irish Women’s Franchise League’. This is a full day conference will be held on Wednesday April 25th, starting at 9am to 5pm. FASHION SHOW IN ST JOSEPH’S HALL BOYLE

On Thursday April 26th at 8pm a fashion show will be in St Joseph’s Hall with Clothes from Magees Fashion Shop, Main Street and Aidan Ray Menswear St Patrick Street. All proceeds to Abbey Community College.

CURLEW WALKERS CLUB

The next meeting of the Curlew Walkers will be taking  place on Sunday 29th April, meeting on the Crescent at 11am. Your leader for the day on the day will be Henk Meijnhart 087 273 3373 and Mary Long 087 952 8754. This will be a Flat grade C and is a Lissadell coast walk. Please confirm times with leader or website prior to each walk www.walkingboyle.h.

MANUAL HANDLING COURSE IN BOYLE                                                                                                                                                       

A five-day Manual Handling Instructors Course QQI Level 6 will take place at Boyle Enterprise Centre this May. The course will provide participant with the knowledge and skill to provide manual handling training and to manage workplace risks. Course content includes Legislative requirements, Anatomy and back care, Ergonomic principles and risk assessment, Manual handling principles and techniques, Planning and design of manual handling training programmes, delivery of manual handling training. DATE FOR YOUR DIARY

Darkness into Light is an Annual 5k Walk/Run in aid of Pieta House. On Saturday the 12th of May a community will come together at St Joseph’s Hall and walk in support of positive mental health. This is a truly unique experience made by YOU. Family, friends and friends you haven’t met yet gathering in support of those who may be struggling or those we have lost. Together we stand together as a community and shine a beacon of light and hope. This will be Boyle’s second year to host the world wide event.

COURTYARD MARKET

The Market takes place every Saturday in the Grounds of King House, Boyle from 10am until 2pm. If you would like to enjoy the best locally grown fresh and organic produce, then a trip to the Courtyard Market should be on your agenda. There is a wide range of seasonal produce, Vegetarian take home as well as organic fruit and vegetables, their handmade wares.
